IMPORTANT NAVIGATION TIPS
> Only use the Hema Explorer App for navigating. It is the primary and ONLY supported navigation aid on this adventure. We do not support Garmin or other GPS units. If you attempt to use any other form of navigation, you will likely be taken off the planned route, could become lost, and run out of fuel. Support vehicles will only sweep the planned route as displayed in Hema.

> Upgrade your HEMA Explorer App to the pro version - you will need the ability to zoom in to see intricate route detail and turns that only the pro version of Hema Explorer offers. Upgrade to pro from within your Hema Explorer app by tapping settings / account. Watch our videos on YouTube or see the Hema Support person on site at check~in.

> Only display the days main route and chosen breakout routes (if any) for the day on your Hema map screen. Too many routes on display at the same time can cause navigation confusion. If you have already been using HEMA for previous navigation prior to this event, be sure to clear all your old routes from your the map screen, to exclusively show the Ridge Rider Day one route and breakouts you wish to take.

> Turn the days route to bright magenta and the break out routes to black. Bright magenta and black are two of the easiest colours to see while riding.

> If you stop for photos or any other reason on route, pull off the track to a completely safe area. Do not risk a collision by stopping in areas of high dust or on corners where riders could run wide and collide with you or your motorcycle. Keep safety at the top of your mind at all times.

> Avoid first day fever. Don’t speed, reduce dust and noise near homes, look after fellow riders, overtake with caution and KEEP LEFT on right handers.

> Do not leave the marked route to take a different course. There is no support of any kind including sweep vehicles off the planned route.

WELFARE CHECKS
> When passing a stopped participant give a thumbs up before passing. In return, if stopped on the side of the road, give an early thumbs up to passing riders so they know you’re okay and can keep going. If you need assistance give a thumbs down. Don’t waive your arms, passing riders might wave back and keep riding - give a thumbs down. If you see a thumbs down, stop in a safe area and render assistance. We need to all look after each other.
